All staff were absolutely lovely, compassionate and very supportive.
As a wife of to patient. I feel I can ask questions.
[name removed] is very easy to talk to, we get on well and in treatment is helping.
I have been treated with respect and given time to explain my needed. All has been very helpful.
Assessment and training was person continued trainer/Salt person was aware of my daughters needs and when she became anxious and was involved and all of training with her staff staff felt they learned a lot.
Well informed the team where all very kind compassionate caring and understanding the trauma group was difficult it stirred up lots of emotions but in doing this I myself got to understand help fight my demons be able to use the tools we got and learn how to break things down into bite size pieces and go really in depth and this was thanks to being supported by the group through my time in the group somethings I had already done but it helps to get that bit more help to support your mental well-being. Also since starting the trauma group I’d already had a diagnosis of ptsd which I was told that’s what caused my non epileptic seizures and so far I’ve had 8 weeks without a seizure so if this is the case it’s proven what a fabulous cause this is as it’s made my path into a better more understanding and seizure free journey I really can’t thank the team enough for helping me on my journey even my daughter who’s taken part has said it’s a life changer so there you have it thank you and keep up the most excellent work.
The experience I have had within the ADHD service was provided by [name removed], he generated a level of care which I have rarely seen. He was caring, reassuring, and adhered to the highest standards of care. Entering the world of ADHD was difficult, but with [name removed]’s guidance and holistic approach he made it very easy, putting me at ease, explaining all aspects of treatment options and pathways. He gave me practical advice on how to manage my condition and what to watch out for.
Due to [name removed]’s advice and support there is a measurable difference in my post-graduate education grades, there is literally a two grade difference of improvement that can be seen since I started treatment with [name removed]. It is so stark that I was shocked when I realised this.
The depth of his knowledge is astounding, I have previously worked on literature reviews on the subject of ADHD, [name removed] was able to tell me things that I hadn’t known or had not put two different connections together. Research – his was perfect, didn’t miss a single thing from the current literature. I am surprised that he is not being put forward as a primary researcher within the specialist field of ADHD. Altogether this allowed me to gain a much deeper insight into the condition and in turn myself.
He is extremely supportive and empathetic, listening to all my needs and worries around having to start the medication. He always made me feel that I was being looked after and I never doubted him.
Overall, an incredible experience within the healthcare system, he is a paragon of best practice and how others should be using his methods as a model for future training of clinicians. He is the gold standard of clinical care in my view.
My daughter is now 16, but SALT has been involved with her care from a very early age. Over the years, it has been a difficult journey. As a parent of a special needs child, it is never easy to hear that your child is at a high risk of aspirating. At times, I was in denial about the information being given to me. Our therapist [name removed] has always been clear, supportive, and understanding of the risks my daughter was facing, and the difficulty I had in accepting next step action. [name removed] built up a fantastic relationship with me, and it gave me a high level of trust in the advice she was giving. Over the years, my daughter's swallow ability has deteriorated and [name removed] was available for advice and support at every step, and I am incredibly grateful for her continued support and continuity with everything. Deciding to go forward with a gastrostomy was the hardest decision I've had to make, but I am so glad I did. The PEG has literally been a lifesaver in more than a few ways. I would never have allowed it to be done if it weren't for the support and information given to me by [name removed].
My daughter has exceeded her life expectancy by quite a few years (as told to me by a Professor that used to work at NGH) , and I honestly put that down to the diligent work of SALT, and many of the other pediatric disciplines that Northampton General Hospital has put us in touch with over the years.
I have recently seen a little boy go through the worst side of aspiration whilst we were in Paddington ward, and it brought it home to me how important it is to follow the advice given by trained medical professionals. And again, I can't stress how grateful I am that [name removed] persevered in supporting a reluctant parent like me!
SALT is an invaluable service that does more than
